The more recent past: Virgin Islands

Once in PR all of the crew left and went back to their normal lives. All except for me because I don't have one of those. Plus, why would I want to leave warm weather and go back to coldness?
After restocking on supplies we headed for Vieques and the US Virgin Islands. We hopped around the islands for about a month. Hit up St Croix, St Thomas, St John and Culebra before returning to PR proper.

Spent a week or so anchored in Sun Bay, Vieques. Worked on the boat and jumped overboard to go snorkeling when it got too hot.
The village of Esperanza on Vieques is super cute and despite it's very small size it has some (or at least one) excellent restaurant that we hit up for Christmas Eve.The beauty of living in a tropical climate is that you can have a real deal beach party for Christmas which is exactly what all the locals do. Head to the beach and drink beer all afternoon.Picked up some passengers for a week. Checked out the Bioluminescent Bay. Crazy place. Thick with bioluminescence like you just don't know (pretty sure that isn't spelled right). The water just lights up when you touch it. No pictures though. Sorry. But how about horses on the beach? Eh? not too shabby.

The "crew", if you will, all hopped up on mojitos.
St Croix...Cruzan Rum capital. Too bad everyday is a holiday in the islands and the distillery wasn't open while we were in town. Blast! Not a bad place to spend New Years' though.SC also happens to be the Eastern most point of the United States. Who knew?
Day tripped it over to Buck Island off St Croix. Did a little hiking and snorkeling. Since I am lacking in the underwater camera department you only get the land pictures. Just imagine a bunch of coral and lots of little fishes, followed by a brief and slightly frightening encounter with a shark. Great. Glad we covered that.Marlin...don't really remember where he fits in the mix...but we let him go anyway.
St Thomas...Home of the cruise ship tourist. St John (aka my day off). yea-ya! Not an ugly place if you know what I'm sayin.
