Plight of the Sloth

 This guy.

While attempting to locate one of our teeny little birds in the tree tops I came across this guy. The most active sloth in the history of sloths. Some how he ended up in the wrong tree. I mean look at it. It has no leaves. He was also painfully aware of this fact and trying his hardest to get to the neighbor tree...but they just weren't close enough.

For nearly an hour we watched as he tried in vain to reach the other tree and only that tree. He was fixated on getting to that one particular tree. Climbing out on some sketchy looking branches and holding his arm out in the hopes it would reach. No such luck.

It was also pretty windy, and on a couple occasions he almost fell. Seeing as we were almost directly under his tree it could have been ugly all around. Death by sloth...

Still trying....

A re-adjustment attempt...down one trunk, up another...still no luck

still nothing...

Lacking any sort of quick response, he couldn't even really take advantage of the the wind blowing him closer.

Finally, we had to move on and do work. He still hadn't made any progress but the next day he was gone. Maybe he learned to jump?
