Little Prather

Again with the old pictures...
A visit to Little Prather meadow turned out to be one big snafu. After driving 3-4 hours (it was a long haul) we were closing in on the meadow...or so we thought. There was still some snow around and a little off roading was required to get around that first obstacle. Only to then be bamboozled by a rather large fallen tree.

Armed with our trusty bow saw and axe, we dutifully attempted to cut through the tree. Having recently been sewn back together I wasn't too keen on the swinging of the axe idea. We really just ended up spouting a lot of obscenities before abandoning the scene. At least we had the proper personal protection equipment on. That's what is really important here, the bright orange vest. Not the sheer ridiculousness of trying to cut a large log with a bow saw in any reasonable amount of time.

Since the log was less than cooperative, we resorted to a ATV track and a little bit of off roading. Eventually we made it to the meadow (after removing another smaller log and driving through more snow) which was quite nice and even had a funky abandoned cabin.

Surveying turned out to be a bust too because a freak thunderstorm came up. Quite the lightning show but not so good for finding owls or standing in meadows with electrical equipment.

Basically it was a lot of driving and frustration with some nice scenery thrown in to balance things out.

  1. Love the shot of the cabin in the boulder-strewn meadow. It looks like something out of a fairy tale. Beautiful waterfall shots too.
